Visitors Part II

I am just now getting around to blogging about events from August but I guess better late than never.

The last weekend in August we took my family on a drive along the Great Ocean Road for some scenic views of the Australian Coast.

It always makes me laugh that Ava refuses to leave home without her stuffed animals. Of course on a longer car ride she can't leave any of them behind!

Our first stop was at Torquay not only is it an excellent surf beach but has a huge playground.

A quick stop At Angelsea where humans and kangaroos alike can enjoy a game of golf. (I'm not joking the kangaroos are all over this place it's not uncommon for them to get hit by stray balls.)

Some nice views along the way.

We spent the first couple of nights in Apollo Bay, a quiet little town probably only 1-2 hours drive outside of Melbourne. We found plenty of fun things to do!

We went on a beach hike

Eric surfed in the Artic Ocean in the middle of winter! (That may sound hard core but don't be fooled the water wasn't that cold!)

The view just above Apollo Bay.

Another Beach picture.

Just north of Apollo Bay is the Otway Rain forest where we spent a day hiking. There is a short dinosaur hike for kids, this was the photo where Ava perfected her "cheese" face!

The treetop walk, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone afraid of heights.

The next couple days we spent near the famous twelve apostles rock formations.

Ava right now has a mild obsession with Helicopters or "Hachoos" as she likes to call them, so of course she needed her picture next to one.

What a beautiful place. I just bought Alison a surf board. She will get it for her birthday on Tuesday. Can't wait to try it. Wish Eric could give us some pointers. We don't have to use wet suits though. :)
